February 2024: Legislative Update:Training Hour Appeals Receive a Fresh Look
The Plumbing and Electrical programs at L&I are establishing a process to allow customers to request a reconsideration of denied training hours. This new process will only be for denied training hours.
So why is a change in the appeals process happening now?
The stakes are high for trainees. Appeals made through superior court can be confusing and expensive. We are committed to making it easier to do business with L&I, and have a goal to help workers and businesses. The Plumbing and Electrical programs are confident in the work each program accomplishes, and we want to be as accurate as possible. This standardized process will benefit everyone.
The process to file hours will remain the same. Keep an eye out for details in coming months. While it’s still early, please feel free and send comments to HoursReconsideration@Lni.wa.
