The PHCC Academy® Plumbing Pre-Apprentice online educational course is an affordable introductory course designed to help entry level plumbing workers be productive as helpers and assist in determining an appropriate career training path.
The course offers an in-depth introduction into plumbing definitions & principles, customer service & soft skills, safety, science & math, plumbing systems & products, and troubleshooting fixtures & gas.
During this seven-module course, participants will learn what is required to pursue a career in the plumbing industry, as well as key skills and techniques to help them succeed.
This self-paced course includes 3 modules critical to the success of today's plumbing service and repair professionals.
Topics include safety, customer service, plumbing and electrical work, basic business skills, and more.
Students must complete the course in 120 days.
Course Modules
- Module 1 Foundations
- Plumbing Definition, Types of Work and Impact on History, Plumbing Responsibility and the Purpose of Codes and Licensing, Plumbing Basic Principles and Skills, Customer Service &Soft Skills.
- Module 2: Safety
- General Jobsite Safety, EMS Services and Training, Fire Protection and Electrical Lockout/Tagout, Tool Safety and Personal Protective Equipment, Electric Shock.
- Module 3: Science and Math
- Water and Water Sources, Plumbing Traps, Electricity, Power Supply Voltage and Arrangements, Circuit Protection, Electrical Test Equipment and Troubleshooting, Math Problem Solving Process, Measurements and Dimensions.
- Module 4: Plumbing Systems and Products
- Building Drains, Building Sewers, Stacks, Vents, Cast Iron Piping, Copper Tubing, Plastic Piping, Steel Piping, Poly Piping, Valves, Pumps, Leaks and Stoppages.
- Module 5: Troubleshooting (Fixtures)
- Sinks, Faucets, and Disposers, Toilets and Bidets, Bathtubs and Lavatories.
- Module 6: Troubleshooting (Gas)
- Fuel Gases and Gas Systems, Gas System Installation, Water Heaters & Hydronic Heating, Gas Safety & Ventilation.
Upon course completion, a certificate is issued.
